Strasburg is a Lancaster County borough in Pennsylvania with a population of roughly 2,800 residents. The community was developed along the Great Conestoga Road and was named after a city in the French region of Alsace. Strasburg if often referred to as “Train Town USA” due to the numerous railroad attractions found in and around the town, and much of the film Witness took place on a nearby farm.  Strasburg is located about nine miles southeast of Lancaster and is 63 miles west of Philadelphia.

The history and culture of Strasburg revolves around the railroad, so this community is a train lover’s paradise. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is located here, and it contains nearly 100 examples of electric, diesel, and steam trains, making the museum one of the best collections of railroad memorabilia and cars in the world. Other train-related attractions include the Strasburg Rail Road, the National Toy Train Museum, and the ChooChoo Barn.

If trains aren’t of interest to you, there are some other attractions located in Strasburg that you might want to check out. The Sight and Sound Theater offers a variety of performances throughout the year, and you can get a glimpse at Amish life by riding Ed’s Buggy Rides. The Strasburg Antique Market is also a great place to look for area antiques and treasures.

The climate of Strasburg is quite varied, and it has four different and distinctive seasons. January is the coldest month of the year, and snowstorms are common.
