Ephratais a Lancaster County borough in Pennsylvania, and as of 2010 its population was roughly 13,400 residents. It is the largest borough in Lancaster County by population. Ephrata is located about 38 miles from Harrisburg and 57 miles northwest of Philadelphia. It is named for Ephrath, which is a biblical town located in Israel. The sister city of Ephrata is Eberbach, Germany, and this is the city from which the borough’s founders originated. This borough consists of 3.6 square miles of total area, and like the majority of Lancaster County, the land is flat and is well suited for agriculture and farming.

There are a variety of attractions available in Ephrata that might appeal to visitors and residents alike. Theater fans often enjoy a trip to Ephrata to check out performances at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center and Main Theater. History buffs may also enjoy a trip to the Ephrata Cloister, which was founded in 1732 as one of the country’s earliest religious communities.

The Ephrata Fair is the largest street fair in all of Pennsylvania, and it dates back to October 1919. Today, the fair lasts for five days each September, and it attracts tens of thousands of tourists and visitors each year. In addition to animal exhibits, visitors can enjoy local food stands, carnival rides, musical entertainment, and a parade.

The climate of Ephrata is variable and features four distinctive seasons. July is the hottest month of the year, and temperatures reach the mid-70s on average. With hot and humid conditions and occasional heat waves, Ephrata residents rely on their air conditioning units to keep them cool and comfortable throughout the summer, and a high-quality climate control system can also minimize home allergens. Likewise, winters can be quite cold with snowstorms, so a reliable furnace or heat pump is needed to get homeowners through these harsh conditions.
